Interprefy's AI upgrade: world's first to facilitate two-way live translation

By Markus Aregger on August 7, 2023

3 August 2023, Zurich: Multilingual meeting technology and services provider Interprefy is today unveiling its latest breakthrough to its ground-breaking artificial intelligence (AI) real-time translation solution.

Interprefy’s AI solution has improved its translation quality and can now support two-way translation and translate multiple spoken languages during live events and meetings - a pioneering move for AI live speech translation solutions.

Since its launch in April, Interprefy's AI-powered speech translation solution has quickly gained adoption and received recognition at the recent AI for Good Global Summit.

With this revolutionary advancement, Interprefy’s AI answers customers’ demands and becomes the first and only solution capable of supporting multiple spoken floor languages and bi-directional speech translation during live events and conferences.

Traditionally, AI speech translation systems have been limited to translating from just one spoken language - referred to as a ‘floor language’ - into many other target languages. Until this launch, AI wasn't suitable for multilingual conferences, training, and panels with diverse speakers. But now, thanks to Interprefy’s AI groundbreaking upgrade, that has changed.

Commenting on this new upgrade, Oddmund Braaten, CEO at Interprefy said, "As global communication continues to expand, so should the capabilities of live translation technology. Now we are introducing the world's first AI translation solution that can support multiple spoken floor languages and two-way interpretation in live events. This game-changing upgrade reaffirms our dedication to breaking language barriers and fostering meaningful connections in a multilingual world."

Interprefy's Video Campaign Helps Speakers Sound Their Best

By Patricia Magaz on December 15, 2021

Good sound quality is key for the success of any online meeting or event, even more so in the case of interpreted ones.

Several reports, including The State of Remote Simultaneous Interpretation in 2020-21, the Survey of Interpreters Experience with Virtual Sittings working for the Canadian Parliament, the report for Conference Interpreting after Covid-19, and the ESIT Research Project on Remote Simultaneous Interpreting highlight the impact of speaker sound quality for interpreters.

ESIT's research even points out that a staggering 93% of interpreters have had to deal with speakers using inadequate equipment at some point in their careers.

That is why we are on a mission to educate and improve speakers' sound quality and have launched a housekeeping video campaign to help speakers sound their best at interpreted meetings and avoid impacting negatively on the interpreters' performance.

Make sure you sound great in any session with our enhanced pre-call testing

By Markus Aregger on August 16, 2021

When joining a session online, we rarely know how we actually sound to other participants and to interpreters who are translating our speech in real-time. This can pose quite the challenge to those trying to follow the dialogue.

That's why, earlier this year, we have introduced the pre-call testing functionality for Connect and Connect Pro meetings, allowing meeting participants and interpreters to get a full overview of their computer settings and internet speed ahead of a meeting.

Making sure you know you sound great

Today, we have updated this functionality to give participants the opportunity to record and listen to a short sample of their audio. To make sure you know exactly how you look and sound to other participants in the session - ahead of joining.

In any session

The pre-call testing functionality is available via the pre-call testing page that can be accessed through this direct link:

https://interpret.world/test

Not only is this a useful resource when joining a session on Interprefy Connect or Connect Pro, but literally any session - whether you're hosting a webinar or joining a Zoom call.

How remote working is helping balance the gender inequality scales - IWD 2021

By Annett Polaszewski-Plath on March 8, 2021

For years, women have been held back in their careers for being ‘too nice’ or ‘too family-orientated’. Being a fully remote company, I’m extremely proud that Interprefy’s team consists of a slight majority of women. Flexible work schedules and the absence of a commute allows us to reconcile work and family better, regardless of gender. And while certainly challenging in many regards, and juggling childcare and work does not disappear miraculously, remote working helps balance the gender inequality scales.
