Interprefy has released the ultimate 2025 regional research offering fresh insight into how event organisers across APAC and the Middle East are approaching multilingual audience engagement — and where opportunities exist to improve attendee experience as international participation continues to grow.
The findings, drawn from decision-makers working in events, marketing, project management and learning and development, highlight a common challenge across both regions: while audiences are becoming more linguistically diverse, many organisers are still navigating how best to support real-time language access at multilingual events.
APAC: Growing Demand, Limited Awareness
In APAC, the findings point to strong momentum towards more inclusive event design, driven by increased international participation. However, awareness of available solutions remains uneven. A significant proportion of organisers reported that they do not currently use live interpretation services or real-time translation services at major business events, and many remain unfamiliar with approaches such as Remote Simultaneous Interpretation (RSI), simultaneous interpretation software or live multilingual captions.
At the same time, organisers who attend international events themselves frequently reported frustration when language support is missing, reinforcing the direct connection between language access and audience engagement. This includes challenges following presentations, participating in discussions and contributing meaningfully in live meetings — areas where live meeting translation and AI real-time translation are increasingly expected.
Whether you're hosting a high-stakes business meeting or a large-scale industry conference, enabling participants to follow and contribute in their own language isn’t just a courtesy, it’s a driver of engagement and effectiveness.— Oddmund Braaten, CEO, Interprefy
The research suggests that APAC organisers recognise the value of multilingual delivery but are still determining how to apply tools such as AI speech translation, speech-to-speech and speech-to-text translator technology and multilingual platforms like the Interprefy platform effectively across different event formats.
Middle East: International Growth Raises Expectations
In the Middle East, where international conferences, exhibitions and cross-border enterprise events continue to expand, the research reveals similar patterns. Many organisers surveyed were unfamiliar with live multilingual captions or real-time interpretation options, despite hosting events with increasingly diverse, multilingual audiences.
As the region becomes more deeply embedded in global business networks, expectations around accessibility, clarity and participation are rising. Organisers highlighted the complexity of balancing audience needs with considerations such as accuracy, confidentiality, interpreter certification and suitability across formats — from executive meetings to large-scale conferences.
Organisations across the Middle East are navigating increasing complexity as the region becomes more deeply embedded in global business networks. As local and international businesses collaborate more closely, event organisers face new communication challenges, particularly when engaging diverse, multilingual audiences — Oddmund Braaten, CEO, Interprefy
Planning for multilingual audiences in 2026
Across both regions, the research underscores a clear shift: language access is becoming a core element of event experience design, rather than a technical add-on. Organisers are increasingly prioritising multilingual support for webinars, conferences, internal meetings and large-scale hybrid events, while seeking clearer guidance on best practices, emerging standards and the effective use of AI-powered translated audio in real time capabilities.
The full findings are published in Interprefy’s report, Accelerating Global Communication: A Strategic Report for Organisers Delivering Events in APAC and the Middle East, which explores how event professionals can plan more inclusive, engaging experiences as international audiences and accessibility expectations continue to evolve.
